The car struck the wall of the Belkin House building on the Faulkner Hospital campus at around 10:45 a.m., hitting a gas line during the collision. Four Boston EMS members were evaluated for gas exposure.

National Grid turned gas off for the rest of the hospital after the crash.

"We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the individual who died and to those who were injured. Our thoughts are also with all who witnessed today's events," a hospital spokesperson said in a statement. "We are grateful to our partners in the Boston Police and Fire Departments, as well as National Grid, for working closely with our teams to respond quickly, contain the situation, and help ensure the safety of our patients, staff, and community."

The Boston Police Department sent homicide detectives and the fatal collision team to the scene. Police believe the incident was not deliberate.

Video from the scene shows a vehicle up against the building with front-end damage. Broken fencing was also seen on the car.

Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is described as a community teaching hospital. The facility provides care to southwest Boston and surrounding suburbs.

The Belkin House on the Faulkner Hospital campus currently houses Dialysis Clinic, Inc., and is not affiliated with the hospital. The clinic will remain closed through Friday and the company is redirecting affected dialysis patients to alternative sites.
